Bullhorn

Sale of the Century

It's near certain that if not for the management of the finances behind the scenes by Bullhorn, there would have been nearly nothing of the Network left to sell, and hence no ability to pay out prizes even after it had dissolved. While High Noon was de jure Head of Finance at this time, in practice everyone in the branch reported to Bullhorn, who just presented a stack of papers to High Noon to sign at the end of each day.

Bullhorn's stewardship allowed for the managed decline orchestrated by the Executives, rather than a complete collapse - and also doubtless helped him to acquire significant assets from the Network to help with the branding and launching of Ultimate Maximum Battle Circus.

Making It Big

Cigar smoke fills the room. The walls are decorated with posters and merchandise of past trainers - arranged like a Champion might arrange their prizes, or a monster hunter their stuffed trophies. Team Legit, Pluck, Saffron, AMBER, and several other well known trainers and Champions of later seasons, in both UMBC and AMBER.

The kid on the other side of the table is in awe at the display - what was his name, Bolt, or Jolt, or Colt, or something like that. Who cares, anyway - they'll burn bright and fast, famous for a moment and then forgotten forever, like all the young ones.

“Alright kid, you want to make it big, I can help with that. You got three choices.”

“One, we go the traditional route - your face around town, your name on the commentator's lips, your monster made into a little plastic toy in a Max Taste's Monster House Meal, the whole shebang.”

“Two, we give you some grass-roots support. My name never comes into it, but we make sure that you're being chatted about in all the cool bars and by all the right people, get some up-and-coming artist to pick The Blobbinator as their new subject.”

“Or there's option Three, the quick way. You want to get famous in UMBC, you need a couple wins against some of the big faces on the scene. We can give you those, for the right price, of course.”

Item I-Ten

You really think that GullDozer v Overbear match was legit? The whole thing was clearly staged to make this season more exciting! GullDozer has been on top since round one, and Overbear is in just the right place to put things neck-and-neck for the mid-season break. The fans were getting bored, so UMBC made GullDozer throw the match!

Item Six

Oh, look Bullhorn just bought another house. Wonder where he could possibly be getting the money from? WAKE UP SHEEPLE! (by the way, Sheeple is my new monster, coming to UMBC next season!)
