So.

**ULTIMATE MONSTER BATTLE ARENA** is a proposed [[http://users.ox.ac.uk/~rpgsoc/|OURPGSoc]] Society Game for Michaelmas 2018 to Hilary 2019 running **//fortnightly//**.  The game revolves around the **WORLDWIDE PHENOMENON** of **GIANT MONSTER BATTLES** against a grungy dystopian backdrop.  

Players will all be involved **SOME WAY OR ANOTHER** with the **BATTLE ARENA** with such potential characters as:
  * **MONSTER TRAINERS**
  * **AVID BATTLE ARENA ENTHUSIASTS**
  * **ENTIRELY LEGITIMATE BOOKIES**
  * **MYSTERIOUS NETWORK EXECUTIVES**
  * Or even <del>**FOOLHARDY IDIOTS**</del> **BRAVE GLADIATORS WHO FIGHT THE MONSTERS THEMSELVES**.

This game will be **UNLIKE ANY OTHER((THAT I'M AWARE OF))** with re-imagination of both **UPTIME** and **DOWNTIME** to fit the style of **ULTIMATE MONSTER BATTLES** - a process I want to **DISCUSS AND EVOLVE** with an **ENTHUSIASTIC** team of GMs!

Inspiration is being drawn from a vast number of sources, including but certainly not limited to:
  * **GIANT MONSTER MEDIA** such as GODZILLA, KING KONG, MEGA SHARK VS GIANT OCTOPUS, MONSTERS VS ALIENS, PACIFIC RIM, C'THULHU
  * **POST APOC / DYSTOPIAN MEDIA** such as HORIZON ZERO DAWN, MAD MAX, ROMANTICALLY APOCALYPTIC, FALLOUT
  * **ARENA FIGHTING MEDIA** such as GLADIATOR, POKÉMON, FIGHT CLUB, EVEN "REAL" WRESTLING
  * **AND SO MUCH MORE**

=== What does GMing involve? ===

Broadly, three categories of work:
  * **DECIDING** - as a team, we will work to create a world, to create a game system, and to create plots that we want to run.  When the game is running, the GM team as a whole will be responsible for deciding how player actions affect the world and what the result of their plans are.  Each GM's input into these decisions is invaluable, as together we make a world and a game that's as fun and enjoyable as possible for our players.
  * **WRITING** - each GM will be responsible for writing up setting and system on the Wiki for presenting both to players and GMs, as well as writing downtimes (ie turnsheets).  //Ultimate Monster Battle Arena// will be taking a different approach to recent games when it comes to turnsheets, in an effort to improve the quality of downtimes while also decreasing the workload for GMs.
  * **ENJOYING** - the most serious thing: GMs should enjoy the game they've made!  It's more than likely that you'll get to play NPCs and write in a world you've made and love, and it's the utmost responsibility of all GMs to make sure they're enjoying themselves as well!
