Blade is an up and coming talent really taking Bastion by storm. His callous demeanour and extreme antics have really struck a chord in the city. Love or hate him, everybody's talking about him. He’s been a monster owner for several seasons and his momentum has just been amping up. From angry tirades at ringside, to trash talk at interviews Blade has been going from bad to bad. It’s taken as fact that you wouldn’t want to cross him. Fans think that’s super cool. Critics say that’s clearly evil. Did you see what happened to his last monster?

Blanket is a relatively new, but already fairly successful Monster trainer. Known for dressing largely in blankets, his monster, Footsie, is pretty bad-tempered, but Blanket seems to be skilled enough to control it reasonably well. When “control” doesn't work as a strategy, he has supplemented it with “running away very quickly and coming back later”.
Those who pay attention to such things will realise that Blanket isn't all that new to the Arena in general, having watched matches obsessively from the cheap seats from a very young age.

Fatesmith started life out in the wastes and came to bastion with his monster to make his fortune battling in the arena. He performed poorly but re-established himself as a bookie, a field in which he has found himself far more successful. High Noon is the second half of Team Legit with Midnight, participants in the Double Team Championships last year where they were utterly crushed (they claimed the other team was cheating). In the Arena, High Noon acts like a degenerate loud mouthed thug, accusing everyone else of cheating and raving about stealing other people's monsters. He is laughably incompetent at this though and has yet to win an arena match. Outside the Arena, High Noon is decidedly more friendly and cheerful, and is an enthusiastic member of Maintenance where he helps with repairs and Arena reconfiguring. He's got a knack for tech and is regular visitor to the wastelands.

The stern faced and verbose mind behind Progress and Steeple's Marvellous Rolling Beetles. He trained the acts, he prepared the routines, he argued for four hours about the difference between swarm taxonomical classifications. Paradigm always was weaker than the others around him. Being bullied for this made him seclude himself. As he grew up, he surrounded himself with technology/weapons for protection, with the end goal of getting a technological monster ‘Grey’ to help him. As he grew older, his collection of weapons grew. He always had some weapon or a piece of technology that he was willing to sell for the right price. Never the best businessman, but he always was fair in his price and treatment, if you could stand his more eccentric nature. Thus he never appears to be in financial trouble. In fact, he did quite well for himself. However, when he was not busy selling something or talking to his contacts, he secluded himself to his labs, still seemingly afraid of other people and only enjoying the company of his labwork.
As such, nobody noticed when Paradigm did not show up for months. He had done that before and he always came back with something new. However, this time was different. When he came back from his self-imposed seclusion he looked different. He appeared much weaker and sickly. His movement was slow, more deliberately. He appears like his body could break at any moment. The most striking feature was his face. It has fallen in and he was hiding his eyes as if they were the most damaged part of his body. He generally does not like to talk about his sickness.
Since then, he barely comes outside. When he does, he generally surrounds himself with Grey for his protection. Grey appears to be extremely well trained and listens perfectly to him. Using Grey as a crutch he needs for protection. The only reason why he comes out of his lab is for league meetings and to meet his buyers/sellers for archaeotech. No matter how sick he gets, he will always be in the market for archaeotech.

It’s probably best not to tell Southpaw that there’s no ‘punch’ in punk rock, else she might just put it there. You probably won’t see her at the League Conferences due to her dedication to her band, Leda Atomica; but if you do, it’s a good idea to steer clear.
She’s been fighting as a gladiator for as long as she can remember; about 10 years, if you’re keeping track. Ever since she was old enough for the arena, she’s thrown in her lot there, treating it as a more convenient hunting ground where she can hone her skill against monsters. Mainly her punching skill. When she’s not boxing behemoths to the roars of adoring fans, she’s either shredding on stage to a similar sound, or (if you’ve got the coin), working as hired muscle on trips to the Wasteland.

Blastshot is a newcomer to Bastion, having only begun appearing at the League Conferences a relatively short time ago. Her manner of speech is quickly identifiable as ‘not from Bastion’, but more likely from somewhere in the Wasteland. Her demeanour very unsubtly indicates that she’d rather not be attending the League Conferences at all, and almost no one knows why she is—as she never seems to have any money to spend at the merchants and never seems to have any interest in battling in the arena nor betting on the fights. At the League Conferences, she can often be heard advertising Monster Hunting services—though for some reason no one seems to own a monster she’s hunted.

Damage Control, or DC for short, is a nondescript, middle-aged woman who has been taking care of the Arena for many years: repairing, enlarging, adapting it. There are vague rumours that she was a trainer once, but if so no one in recent memory has seen her with a monster—or at least, none of her own.
And if you are a fine, upright citizen, that’s about all you know.
However, for those of you that aren’t, her fan club, the Crescent Wrench Blues, are a good way to approach her about adaptations to the Arena that will best suit your monster (or you, if you’re a gladiator), making for much better fights and theatre. She’s said to be partial to archaeotech in reimbursement.

Piggybank was born into an immensely wealthy family which had been rich for as long as anyone could remember. It is believed that his parents got him his cushy job for finance in the Network, and that he’s willing to help people do just about anything for the right price. He claims to own a monster but nobody has ever seen it, though it is rumoured that such is because he molly-coddles it. He seems to enjoy high society and will look down on the poor, wasteland residents or people with biological monsters.

Seer’s always been a bit of a weird one. Unfriendly and perpetually anxious, he only understood his calling once he came out of Bastion and started interacting with Monsters. The man has something of an affinity with monstrous beasts, his mismatched eyes (one green and one blue) quickly picking up trails and noting patterns in Monster behaviour. Similarly, Monster Fighting is a natural love of his: what better place to watch Monsters at work, showing off all their strength and beauty?
A skeletally thin man with buzzcut blonde hair, Seer can usually be found in the Arena or in the pens, discussing Monsters with other trainers or tending to his beloved monster, Merlion/Merle. Alternatively, he’s a common sight in both the Arena and bars across the city selling his services as a scout and trapper.
